Empress Blue is an ode to the Egyptian-style movie theater that had been a center piece of the NDG community (Montreal, QC) until it was abandoned after a fire tore through it in the summer of 1992. It was written for a short documentary about the building that was released this spring, 2011.

In working with Lennie Moreno, our goal was to express the sexual nature of the track. We visually explored the raw and explicit lyrics by evoking desire and fantasy. Featured on Musique Plus.
Our goal was to express the warm and optimistic tone of the song by playfully using colors, light, and texture. Shooting on 16mm film allowed us the flexibility and organic quality that we desired.
Sophie Young is a singer and songwriter based out of Montreal. Her soft vocals combined with her pop melodies have won over many audiences and have enabled much radio play.
