Stop the Meter on Internet Usage
This morning, a friend of ours, Chris Zacchia at www.forgetthebox.net released a video he directed in response to the CRTC’s decision to meter Internet usage. Gratefully, the government has overturned this decision forcing the CRTC to rethink they’re plans and motives. But will they? Thanks to OpenMedia.ca and thousands of pissed off Internet users, the battle to keep the internet accessible to all has, so far, been successful.
Congratulations to Chris and forgetthebox.net for showing their support!
Here’s a useful link to learn more about the issue.

It’s great that you guys are shining a light on this important issue. Canadians everywhere need to realize this means higher costs for everyone! People spend more and more time online and will be consuming ever increasing amounts of data/bandwidth.

It is definitely a good thing that people are taking notice of the question being raised. It will mean higher bills at the end of the month, which is something that will effect nearly everyone. But it will also have a unjust limiting effect on how small businesses, such as our own, are capable of using the internet to our advantage. And although the internet is not infinite (or is it), I am pretty sure we have not reached the point where the big providers are breaking even.
I definitely hope the outcome is a positive one for us!

So far, they’ve been successful but the CRTC has only postponed their enforcement of the new laws, and the reason probably has a thing or two to do with there being an election coming up.
